This is a fully carved celtic octave mandolin with a deeper than usual carved Swiss spruce soundboard. It has a very loud and particularly sweet tone that is well balanced across all strings. The deep Swiss spruce 'Moonwood' and the Tasmanian blackwood back makes it very resonant, producing natural reverb and long sustain that works makes this perhaps the nicest sounding octave mandolins I have made. The sound is superb through my AER amplifier with the K&K pickups really reproducing the tone accurately. It measures 33 mm at the nut with a very comfortable slim neck .
